The University of Texas Athletic Performance Clinic is a one day continuing education clinic compromised of well-renowned speakers specializing in the fields of sport performance, sports science, nutrition, and sports medicine. We aim to increase knowledge and provide connection opportunities for performance coaches from all levels-private sector, high-school, D1-D3, etc.

J.P. Nerbun is a bestselling author, leadership coach, and founder of TOC Culture Consulting, a leading global sports-consulting and leadership coaching business. His mission is to help leaders and their teams achieve their full potential through 1:1 coaching, consulting, and community.

Nerbun has an impressive track record of guiding leaders at esteemed institutions such as Stanford University, Harvard University, University of Texas, the USGA, PWC, and Chick-Fil-A. His work spans across sports, education, healthcare, and business.

Nerbun is also the author of two acclaimed books: Calling Up: Discovering Your Journey to Transformational Leadership (2019) and The Culture System: A Proven Process for Creating an Extraordinary Team Culture (2022). In 2023, he launched The Culture System Online Training Platform, which has been praised for being the most comprehensive online coach education available. His podcast, Coaching Culture, is one of the top sports leadership podcasts globally.

Nerbun lives in Ireland with his wife and their three children.

Dave Tenney

David Tenney is currently the High Performance Director of Austin FC. Tenney joined Austin FC after three (3) years as the first High Performance Director for the NBA’s Orlando Magic (2017-2020) following eleven (11) seasons in MLS. During Tenney’s stewardship of the Magic’s high performance department, the Magic made back-to-back playoff appearances for the first time since 2012.

Tenney joined Orlando Magic after nine (9) seasons (2009-17) with the Seattle Sounders, serving as High Performance Director for the 2017 season after previous stints as Sports Science & Performance Manager (2015-16) and Head Fitness Coach (2009-14). While with the Sounders, the team won MLS Cup (2016), the U.S. Open Cup four (4) times (2009-12), and made the MLS Playoffs in nine (9) consecutive years (2009-17). During his time in Seattle, Tenney created the Sounders Sports Science Summit, which has become a leading sports science conference. Prior to joining the Sounders, Tenney served as both Fitness and Goalkeeper coach with Sporting Kansas City (then known as the Kansas City Wizards) for two (2) seasons (2007 - 2008).

Before joining Sporting Kansas City, Tenney held the same dual role of Goalkeeper Coach and Head Fitness Coach with the George Mason University men’s and women’s teams for two (2) seasons (2004-2006). In 2006, the George Mason men’s team advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 12 years. During that period, Tenney served as the Director of Girls Olympic Development Program (ODP) for the state of Maryland, while also serving as the head of fitness and youth technical director for the Washington Freedom SC.

Tenney played collegiate soccer at Virginia Tech (the Hokies) from 1989-91, serving as team captain during his final two seasons. As goalkeeper, he was voted Metro Conference Tournament Defensive Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 1989. Additionally, Tenney played for several lower division teams in Germany and with various U.S. indoor soccer teams, ending his career with the Baltimore Blast (1998- 2000) of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL).

Tenney earned a Master’s degree in Exercise Science-performance enhancement from California University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor’s degree in Coaching Science from George Mason University. He also holds a Czech Republic ‘A’ coaching license. He is also a certified National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) performance enhancement specialist and a Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach (CSCS). He is currently pursuing a PhD in Organizational Development and Leadership from Ashford University.

Beth Lewis

Beth Lewis

Beth Lewis holds a BFA in dance performance from the University of Georgia and launched her career with Pilobolus Dance Theater, showcasing her talents across the globe.

Beyond dance, her extensive sports background ignited an early passion for movement and novel motor experiences.

Committed to proactive measures and education for efficient movement today and promoting high-quality health span in aging, Beth collaborates with Peter Attia at Early Medical, contributing to research and implementation of movement and exercise.

Additionally, she partners with Dr. Kellyann Niotis, a preventative neurologist, to research the benefits of exercise in reducing the risk of neurodegenerative diseases. Currently pursuing a master's degree in Geriatric Exercise Science, Beth exemplifies dedication to advancing holistic approaches to health and well-being.

Martin Rooney MHS, PT, CSCS

Martin Rooney is an internationally-recognized entrepreneur, fitness expert, sought-after presenter and best-selling author. Martin has his Master of Health Science and Bachelor of Physical Therapy degrees from the Medical University of South Carolina and also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science from Furman University. Martin is the former COO of the Parisi Speed School, a youth sports performance franchise with over 80 locations nationwide and is the founder of the Training for Warriors system. The TFW System has been operated in over 300 facilities in 25 countries worldwide and Martin’s programs have been used by over one million youth athletes and adults. A former US bobsledder, Division I track athlete, Judo black belt, record-setting powerlifter and two-time Guinness World Record holder, Martin not only has the academic and athletic background, but also first-hand business experience of what it takes to run global organizations.

As a presenter, Martin is regularly in front of over 10,000 people per year and has consulted Fortune 500 companies such as Marriott International, Nike, Prudential and Hasbro as well as major organizations like Prudential Financial and Weichert Realtors. Martin has also conducted training and development programs for Military Organizations including the Army Rangers, Army Airborne and Navy SEALs, and has coached at and advised professional teams such as the NY Jets, Cincinnati Bengals, Carolina Panthers and NY Giants. His university consulting clientele has included Notre Dame, Arizona State University, Brown University, University of Alabama, Oregon State University, Auburn University, Rutgers University, University of Tennessee, Montana State University, Furman University and West Point. Martin has also been a training representative for Adidas and Perform Better.

Over the last 15 years, Martin has traveled to over 40 countries to help train world-class athletes and teach trainers and leaders about coaching and culture. As a coach, Martin has been listed in the top 100 Most Influential People in Health and Fitness over 5 different years and in 2015 Martin was inducted into the Personal trainer Hall of Fame. Martin has trained hundreds of athletes from the NFL, MLB, UFC, NBA, WNBA. He has also had the honor to work with numerous Olympic medalists, All-Americans and World Champions. In addition to professional athletes, he has also coached 100’s of high school athletes that have gone on to compete at numerous top Division I colleges across the United States including high school national champions.

Martin’s two newest books, High Ten and Coach to Coach are helping to create better leaders and business and team cultures around the world. He has also written three best-selling books printed in 5 different languages for Harper Collins publishers (Warrior Cardio, Ultimate Warrior Workouts and Training For Warriors) and his 12 books and DVD series overall which have sold over a combined 200,000 copies. His work has been featured on ESPN, Spike TV, Fox Sports, the NFL Network, and in the New York Times, USA Today, Men’s Health, Men’s Fitness, Muscle and Fitness, The Sporting News, Runner's World, SELF, Outside and Sports Illustrated for Kids.

Originally from New Jersey, Martin now lives in North Carolina with his wife Amanda and their four daughters Sofia, Kristina, Keira and Sasha.

Todd Tuetken

Todd Tuetken holds the position of Vice President of Human Performance at Keiser Corporation, where he brings his extensive background in high-performance sports to the forefront. In this capacity, he leads a dynamic team responsible for various pivotal tasks, including creating external educational content, conducting trend research, gathering valuable customer insights, generating innovative product ideas, and crafting engaging media content.

Notably, Todd is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin, with a focus on Physical Culture and Sport Studies. His dedication to academic excellence is complemented by his role as an Assistant Instructor within the Kinesiology and Health Education Department, where he imparts knowledge to the next generation of professionals.

Todd's expertise extends beyond the academic and consumer realm. He also serves as an NBA Player Performance consultant, leveraging his insights and experience to benefit multiple clients.

Prior coaching experience includes: Assistant Athletic Director for Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning at the University of Washington from 2017-2021, Assistant Athletic Performance Coach for the University of Texas at Austin from 2013-2017, and Iowa State University from 2011-2013.

In summary, Todd Tuetken's multifaceted career demonstrates his commitment to the field of high-performance sports, both in academia and practical application.

John Wagle

john wagle

John Wagle has been named the University of Notre Dame’s Associate Athletics Director, Sports Performance. Wagle joins the Irish after spending the past four years working with Major League Baseball’s Kansas City Royals, most recently as the Director-Performance Science/Player Development.

In addition to his work with the Royals, Wagle earned his PhD in sport physiology at East Tennessee State University in May of 2019 after serving as a doctoral fellow. He also holds a master’s in exercise science from Western Illinois University, an MBA from Loyola University in Chicago and a BA in physics from Augustana College in Illinois. Wagle also worked at DePaul University for three years, including his final two years as the Blue Demons’ Director of Sports Performance.

In January of 2020, Wagle was promoted to Kansas City’s Director of Performance Science and Player Development after serving the previous season as the Royals’ Minor League Strength & Conditioning Coordinator.

Before joining the Royals organization in October of 2018, Wagle was a Doctoral Fellow at East Tennessee State University. As a Sport Scientist/Strength and Conditioning coach, he provided strength and conditioning services for world-class athletes, including Winter Olympians and NFL players. He designed and supervised acute and chronic athlete monitoring strategies for Olympic training and also designed a training program for a collegiate baseball program alongside integrated athlete monitoring platform that led to 99.35% athlete availability rate.

Wagle was the Director of Sport Performance at DePaul University from June 2014 to July 2016. In that role, he was responsible for all aspects of the Sports Performance department. He launched an innovative athlete monitoring platform for all student-athletes while providing strength and conditioning services for the men’s basketball, softball and men’s tennis teams. He also oversaw the internship program curriculum. Prior to being named the Director, he served as Assistant Director of Sport Performance for the Blue Demons for one year. Before joining the Blue Demons staff on a full-time basis, Wagle was a Graduate Intern Strength & Conditioning Coach with the football program at Western Illinois University, a Sports Performance Intern at DePaul, the head assistant coach/strength and conditioning coach/recruiting coach for Dominican University’s baseball team and a graduate assistant baseball coach at North Park University.

Wagle also has several professional certifications, including as a Registered Strength & Conditioning Coach (National Strength and Conditioning Association), Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist with Distinction (National Strength and Conditioning Association), Sport Science Certification Committee Member (National Strength & Conditioning Association), Level 2 Weightlifting Coach (United States of America Weightlifting), Level 1 Track & Field Coach (United States Track & Field) and Level 1 Anthropometrist – International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry. He is also an accomplished author of numerous peer reviewed journal articles, books and has taken part in many invited public speaking engagements.

Tim Pelot

Tim is a Senior Strength and Conditioning Physiologist for the United States Olympic Committee, He has been involved with the preparation of national team athletes for 14 years and he has been in his current role since 2010. He has been involved in strength and conditioning for 24 years, serving coaches and athletes in the collegiate, professional and Olympic settings.

He has assisted athletes and coaches as a Team USA Delegate member for the 2012 London Olympic Games, the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Tim is currently pursuing an MBA with an emphasis in data analytics. He holds a certificate in sport leadership from Kellogg School of Management, via Northwestern University and has a Master’s degree sport physiology from University of West Florida.

He currently is responsible for the physical preparations for the following national teams: Men’s Indoor Volleyball and Women’s Waterpolo.

In his tenure with the US Olympic Committee he has helped support the attainment of 24 Major International Gold Medals, 4 Olympic gold medals, 3 Olympic bronze medals, 1 Olympic silver medal, 3 World Cup titles and 3 World Championships.

Tim’s professional objectives are to Teach, Inspire and Serve those he works with and his professional passions are learning (everything sport science and leadership). He values relationships and tries to keep his work fun and enjoyable.

Tim lives in Southern California and enjoys spending time with his wife(Jaclyn), 2 kids (Tyler and Alyson). He enjoys time at home, spending time with his family, taking an active role in his kids sporting activities and helping youth athletes develop.
